Randal D. Pinkett, PhD, MBA
Dr. Randal D. Pinkett is an entrepreneur, technologist, author, and business leader with more than 25 years of experience building and leading ventures at the intersection of technology, data, analytics, consulting, and social impact. He is the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of BCT Partners, a multidisciplinary consulting firm that provides research, strategy, training, technology, artificial intelligence, and analytics services to public, private, philanthropic, and nonprofit organizations.
Under Dr. Pinkett’s leadership, BCT Partners has grown from a $2 million enterprise in 2006 to more than $35 million in annual revenue by 2024, supported by more than 200 employees and contractors nationwide. He has led the company’s expansion into new markets, the formation of multiple joint ventures, and the development of the organizational infrastructure required to deliver complex, multidisciplinary engagements at scale. He also led BCT’s acquisitions of Critical Measures and Community Science, expanding the company’s capabilities in culturally responsive consulting, research, evaluation, organizational strategy, community change, and social-impact measurement.

Dr. Pinkett has been an executive champion of BCT’s investments in responsible artificial intelligence and Precision Analytics™, including Precision Causal Modeling™. PCM is designed to help organizations use existing data and human-guided machine learning to determine what works, for whom, and under what conditions. The approach moves beyond population averages and retrospective reporting to generate tailored, actionable evidence that can support program leaders and frontline practitioners. BCT has applied its precision analytics capabilities across child welfare, behavioral health, education, housing and homelessness, philanthropy, economic opportunity, health and human services, and other social-impact settings.
Before launching BCT Partners, Dr. Pinkett founded and led MBS Educational Services & Training, which delivered professional, academic, and organizational development services to corporations, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations. His earlier technical experience includes product-development modeling and analysis at Lucent Technologies, digital speech-compression research at AT&T Bell Laboratories, and analog and digital systems engineering for commercial, meteorological, and military satellite programs at General Electric. This combination of entrepreneurial leadership, advanced technical training, and applied experience informs his approach to translating emerging technologies into scalable solutions for complex organizational and societal challenges.
Dr. Pinkett holds five academic degrees. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University, a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Oxford, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Business Administration, and Doctor of Philosophy in Media Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow and Lucent Technologies Cooperative Research Fellow at MIT. Dr. Pinkett and BCT co-founder Lawrence Hibbert were named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year® winners. Dr. Pinkett’s other distinctions include induction into the Rutgers University Hall of Distinguished Alumni, selection to the NCAA Academic All-America Hall of Fame, and receipt of honorary doctorates from several institutions.
Dr. Pinkett is the author or co-author of several books, including Data-Driven DEI, Black Faces in High Places, Black Faces in White Places, Campus CEO, and No-Money Down CEO. His work spans artificial intelligence, data analytics, emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, organizational development, equity, and social innovation. He has served on a range of business, public-sector, and nonprofit boards and has been a regular contributor to national media, including MSNBC, CNN, and Fox Business News.
Across his career, Dr. Pinkett has focused on building organizations and technologies that combine commercial discipline with measurable social value.
